Jerry Weinstein, founder and president of Manhattan Apartments, Inc. started his career as a rental agent in a small brokerage house in the Upper East Side. Brokers at the time dealt mainly with landlords with whom they had exclusive agreements with. Feeling that this limited what he could offer to clients, Mr. Weinstein envisioned a rental company that would provide landlords and property owners from all over Manhattan a central location to post their listings and providing future tenants or home buyers a quick and efficient way of searching for homes. In 1984, Mr. Weinstein started Manhattan Apartments, Inc, with one agent and one listing. Today, the team of 250 professionals at MAI provide services covering every aspect of apartment rentals and sales.
