Like most things in New York, the best kept secrets are on the Lower East Side. Rivington Guitars, located at 125 Rivington Street, is a tiny but well-stocked trove of vintage and rare guitars. This is not your novice's guitar place-- no shiny new guitars with custom straps or salesmen who think Blink 182 are "awesome." RG is for the serious player or collector. Its frequented by top NY band members and the staff's knowledge of the equipment is dead on. Also, need a repair or advice? Rivington Guitars can help. It may be a little hole in the wall, but its definitely worth a look. Don't be fooled--there is also a guitar store on Orchard just a few blocks over, but for what it has in store aesthetics, it lacks in actual selection and quality equipment. Rivington Guitars is open everyday from 12pm-8pm (except Sundays, it closes at 6pm).
