Once called Rye Town, the Village of Rye Brook is an incorporated village in the Town of Rye. Originally an unincorporated estate and farm area, Rye Brook retains much of its country-like atmosphere in lovely residential neighborhoods, most of which were developed since the 1950's. Rye Brook boasts a select environment, excellent schools and outstanding recreation department with comfortable proximity to unlimited shopping and services and a short 42-minute commute to New York City via Metro North trains.
The several major Fortune 500 companies including Kraft Foods' world headquarters which are beautifully situated on lush corporate parks on the outskirts of the village, contribute to attractive low taxes for Rye Brook residents.
Schools
The Blind Brook/Rye Union Free School District serves approximately 1,650 students with a low student to teacher ratio and a broad range of programs with numerous electives, physical education, art and music. The Rye Brook schools have been widely acclaimed for their academic excellence and the faculty considered among the best throughout the county. Ridge Street School serves grades K-6 and includes full-day kindergarten, an active PTA and many after-school programs. Blind Brook High School, built in 1973, is a modern state-of-the-art facility with a lovely campus that includes tennis courts and several ball fields. Blind Brook offers a wide range of programs including Regents and Advanced Placement courses. In addition to superior academics, 90% of its students are involved in various sports activities.
Arts and Recreation
There are four parks in Rye Brook which are operated by the Rye Brook Recreation Commission. Supervised programs and sporting events are sponsored all year long and include soccer, hockey, baseball, basketball, tennis, karate, ice skating, bowling, and skiing. There are also adult programs which include softball, volleyball, golf and table/board games. There are also a variety of programs and activities for the handicapped.
Nearby, the State University of New York at Purchase (SUNY) Center For The Arts sponsors many performing and visual arts events as well as courses available on a year-round basis. The Neuberger Museum at SUNY has an impressive collection of art and regularly features select artist's work.
